General Posting Guidelines
The New Order Mormon discussion boards are full of people in all different phases of their religious journey. We have a desire to keep this place inclusive, so that as many people as possible will feel comfortable participating. To that end we will enforce the following posting rules.
Please remember your membership on the forum is contingent on following these rules.
Swearing
Swearing and other "not safe for work" language should be avoided. If a truly frustrating idea needs some emphasis, try omission: sh**, b*****d, or the more cartoonish, and less likely to be moderated, $!!**@.
Mocking and Belittling
While we often can be tempted to mock and belittle those who are still TBM (True Believing Mormons), we should avoid that. Please remember that many if not most of us have people in our lives who we love and respect that still are full believers. This also extends to the church itself, please avoid:
Derogatory terms for the church, including but not exclusively "The Cult", "The Crutch", "The Moron Church"
Diminutive or mocking terms for church leaders. For example it would be fine to refer to Thomas Monson, but not Tommy Boy.
Overtly hostile parodies or jokes at the expense of the church or church leaders.
Bearing Testimony
While we want to avoid an overly hostile environment, and discourage mocking and angry rants against the church, we also want to keep this place free from moralizing and testimony bearing. Every so often we get a well intentioned believer who wants to come and convert everyone, or call to repentance. This is not acceptable for this board.
Avatars and Pictures
Please keep the other posting guidelines in mind when creating or selecting avatars and pictures to post in threads. In addition, Avatars should be safe for work, avoiding overly violent or sexual images.
Sock Puppets
Using a second identity to support your position or to attack another user will not be tolerated. Own your communications. If you need to use a second identity temporarily to conceal your identity while discussing a sensitive subject, you should inform a moderator, otherwise, your new identity will likely be disabled. In simple language, you should only use one identity.
